Charges Policy

The Annals of Proteomics and Bioinformatics (APB) follows a transparent Charges Policy to ensure that authors, readers, and institutions fully understand the financial aspects of the publication process. APB operates under the Gold Open Access model, where all published content is freely available without subscription barriers, supported by reasonable Article Processing Charges (APCs).

APB charges a one-time Article Processing Charge (APC) after acceptance — there are no submission, revision, or page-based fees.

1. Scope of the Policy

This policy applies to all authors publishing with APB and outlines the structure of charges, payment methods, waivers, and exceptions. The journal’s charges reflect costs related to editorial management, peer review, DOI registration, indexing, and long-term digital archiving.

2. Article Processing Charges (APC)

APB maintains a fair and competitive APC structure. Fees vary based on article type and discipline, ensuring accessibility for researchers globally.

3. What the APC Covers

  • Comprehensive editorial management and peer-review coordination.
  • DOI registration via CrossRef.
  • Full-text formatting, copyediting, and typesetting.
  • Long-term digital preservation via Portico and PKP PN.
  • Website hosting, indexing, and metadata dissemination.
  • Creative Commons licensing and open-access dissemination.

4. Payment Process

Once an article is accepted, authors receive a formal invoice with secure payment instructions. Payments can be made via:

  • Credit/Debit Card (via secure payment gateway)
  • Bank Transfer (SWIFT/IBAN supported)
  • PayPal or institutional purchase order
Payment Acknowledgment: Authors receive a receipt and confirmation of payment within 48 business hours.

5. Waivers and Discounts

To promote inclusivity, APB offers APC waivers and discounts for authors from low-income or lower-middle-income countries as defined by the World Bank Classification. Full waiver requests are reviewed by the editorial office and assessed case-by-case.

6. Additional Costs

APB does not charge extra fees for color figures, supplementary files, or data depositions. Optional services like expedited review or printed reprints are subject to additional cost upon request.

7. Refunds and Cancellations

Refunds are managed in accordance with the Refund Policy. APCs are non-refundable after publication or DOI assignment. Refunds may be considered only in exceptional cases such as double payment or journal-side processing errors.

8. Fee Transparency and Compliance

APB’s financial practices comply with DOAJ Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing and COPE Financial Integrity Guidelines. All fee-related communications are recorded and auditable under GDPR standards.

9. Financial Assistance

The journal occasionally partners with institutions, consortia, or funding agencies to provide publication subsidies for authors with limited funding. Authors may include a note in the cover letter to request consideration for financial support.
